Petr Nouzovský

Cellist Petr Nouzovský graduated from Prague’s Conservatoire an Academy of Music, Dresden’s Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber and from Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid. He attended master classes all over the world (Mstislav Rostropovich, Boris Pergamenschikow, David Geringas) and studied privately with Stanislav Apolín. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava.

Amongst his early achievements are accolades such as New Master on Tour 2007, Europäische Förderpreis für Musik 2007 and a laureate at Val Tidone Competition 2011. On the strength of a recording he sent over to Los Angeles, he received repeated invitations to attend Gregor Piatigorsky Seminar.
Petr has performed at a series of important festivals in Italy, Germany, Japan, Slovakia, Germany and Spain and he has been a regular guest at the Prague Spring Festival since 2005. Petr’s debut concert in Amsterdam’s Concertgebow was in 2008, in Pablo Casals Festival 2010, Santander Festival in 2011 and Kasseler Musiktage in 2011.
He has also appeared in major venues in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kyoto, Alger, The Hague, Kassel and Buenos Aires. He regularly performs with leading Czech and foreign orchestras and conductors and is a sought-after chamber musician. To date he has recorded 15 CDs, and has recorded over 25 hours of music for the Czech Radio.
Petr Nouzovský has headed workshops and master classes (Peru, Ekaterinburg, Wroclaw) and has taken part in the judging board of international competition (Concertino Praga, Prague Spring Festival Competition 2012).

He plays on cellos crafted by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume from 1835.
